A video and image show the devastation caused by a fire in a school.
Manchester Evening News reports that ten fire departments responded today to an early morning fire at Great Lever in Bolton.
The fire caused serious damage to a portion of the roof at SS Simon and Jude CE primary school on Newport Road. The fire is believed to have occurred inside the building, although no injuries were reported.
At 8.30am, a fire department was dispatched to the school after receiving reports that the roof had caught fire. The school’s classes are believed to have escaped the damage of the fire but were badly smoke out.
Firefighters from the Greater Manchester Police Department and North West Ambulance Service responded. As of Thursday afternoon, crews used hose reels to extinguish the fire.
According to the reports, the fire started in the roof area of the hall.
Large plumes of black thick smoke were visible for many miles above the scene.
Firefighters were seen quenching the fires on the roof of the building. A number of streets are still closed.
According to Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service, firefighters are currently fighting a major fire in a primary-school on Newport Road in Bolton.
