Families tell FOX 17 News that it feels like they are still in a nightmare as they recover from the devastation.
Kathy and Daniel Cornwell, who have been living in Madison off East Campbell Road for many decades now.
Kathy said, “It is really devasting because it has never happened before.”
Kathy said it was terrible to watch the neighbors go through such a thing and that the couple had been without electricity until Saturday.
The damage to her house is so extensive that she emphasizes the cold.
Daniel said that the roof would need to be replaced completely.
The tarps were put up to stop any further water getting into their house.
Daniel said that it was a ton of work, but the volunteers were a big help.
Daniel stated that a team from Hendersonville came to the house yesterday and disassembled it. They saved all my tools, and put them under a tarp in our backyard.
Daniel said they could not have done it without this incredible support, particularly since they are older now.
Kathy worries that this storm may cause people to leave.
I think many will go. “I really think so, because developers have already moved in,” Kathy replied.
Kathy said it was sad that this happened because she and her neighbors have known each other for many years.
