Ryan Larkin, despite the large hole on his Penobscot Road house’s side, was upbeat Monday morning.
A tree crashed into Larkin’s family’s sleeping kitchen in Henrico County as heavy rain and wet snow fell on Sunday into Monday.
We heard what sounded as if there were multiple crashes, since we were backing up Parham Road. Traffic is heavy in that area. Larkin: “I thought it was a crash, but when I came out from the bedroom saw the solid hole on the kitchen wall.
Larkin told reporters that he had called 911 shortly after 5 am on Monday.
He said, “My son’s room was right there. It could have potentially been worse if the tree had ripped through the entire building and second floor.”
The dog and his entire family were not injured.
Larkin, a homeowner with an insurance policy, was looking for a person to clean up the mess.
Chesterfield Damage
Chesterfield Fire and EMS responded to a report of a fallen tree into an apartment along Route 1.
At 10:35 pm on Sunday, firefighters found a large branch of a tree that had fallen through the roof.
No one was injured, but three people were forced to flee.
The Red Cross helps the family to find an accommodation.
During the morning rush hour, officers also closed down several streets in Chesterfield’s East End and Henrico’s East End due to floods and fallen trees.

Chesterfield Fire reported that their crews had responded to half a dozen requests for tree removal from roads in the county, including Ridgerun Road.
