The Chilavert Popular High School – CEIP reported acts of vandalism at its headquarters, which also houses an educational project and a recovered factory. The hate graffiti, such as “Zurdos panquekes” and “Afuera Mazza”, appeared on Tuesday on the walls and doors of the building located at 1136 Chilavert Street, in Buenos Aires.
Maxi Sobral, a high school history teacher, in dialogue with Tiempo, contextualized this attack as part of a growing neo-fascist advance, particularly linked to the electoral process prior to the presidential elections in October. He pointed out that these types of attacks reflect a rejection of popular struggles, mentioning other similar incidents in educational institutions in the city, such as the vandalization of commemorative tiles at the Pellegrini school, with the signature “Milei 2023”, the vandalization of a tile in the Pomar shed in Nueva Pompeya, which commemorates Luis Cervera Novo, a member of the Communist Party kidnapped in 1977 along with other companions.
For more than 20 years we have lived in the Pompeya neighborhood, a printing press recovered by its workers, a popular high school (public and state school), a community theater space, a documentation center for recovered companies, a cultural center and countless people. that we sustain this space in the neighborhood, with our work, our desire and our fight. We have been through the good times and the bad times, the high prices and the festivals, and with each crisis with our fists held high.
We have never had such a specifically targeted and violent attack. These graffiti, poorly written and biased, are just a sample of the violence of a sector emboldened after last Sunday’s election results. Clearly, when we denounced again and again the fascism of Libertad Avanza we were referring to this: its intention to annul by all means those of us who think differently.
Not even a few hours passed after the presidential elections for this fact, they think that in this way they instill fear of thinking and acting differently, and they do it in darkness and anonymity.
We take this serious violent attack on our public and state school very seriously. We will not only resort to institutional means to file criminal charges, but we will continue to collectively build resistance to fascism and the commitment to our own society, one that unites with the hope of sharing bread at all tables, that of the public school, popular and communal, that of the shouts in an animated chorus in a community theater play, that of the working hands on the machines of a recovered printing press. We will continue fighting together, because we take seriously our chosen path: resistance to fascist violence and the construction of a classless, communal, feminist, anti-racist and joy-filled society.
We fight fascism in the streets, at the polls and in any space where they dare to appear. Not pass!
