Social media is circulating a video of a young child locked in an unlocked car.
The window was slightly opened and the car had been locked with the air conditioner or engine off. A passerby stepped in to help the child because of his distress.
A man noticed that the child was in a bad situation after about 40 minutes and said the parents of the child were not present.
The man was alarmed and asked for help to remove the child from the vehicle.
The man, with help from others, broke through the Perodua Viva’s window, rescued his child and brought them to a clinic nearby.
He explained: “After almost 40 minutes and with no parents in sight, I appealed to the public for assistance.” Now the child is in safe hands. “We broke the window to take them to the clinic.”
The man left his child at the clinic with staff, and then resumed all of his other activities while he waited for the parents’ arrival.
The man explained that, in response to the reaction of the parents, he could not meet with them because he had work obligations after the rescue.
Online, the video caused criticism against the parents of the children for leaving them in the car alone.
The car’s location under the sun was cited as a concern for the exposure of the child to heat.
Public praise was given to the man’s quick actions in saving the child.
They also urged that the person posting the video report it to police because of parental negligence.
